As a private individual

As a child, I experienced the downsides of social anxiety. I felt anxious in social situations, and my shyness made it difficult for me to either make friends or adapt to new situations. My perfectionist attitude and the pressure to meet expectations drove me to strive for perfection and the maximum effort, even when it negatively impacted my mental or physical health. I also couldn't escape the effects of lack of self-confidence and self-esteem issues. As a young adult, I encountered the challenges of dating arising from my lack of self-confidence. Probably some of you have experienced these difficulties at some point in your lives.

After graduation, I chose a helping, healing profession by attending medical school. Years later, I slowly realized that medicine wasn't quite my path. I felt it was the point when the journey towards becoming a doctor was taking more from my life than it was giving. After much deliberation, I made a brave decision and at the age of 26, I restarted my studies. I retook my exams, applied, and was accepted into a psychology program. In medical school, I learned many useful things that influence my identity as a psychologist and also helped me find my true vocation.

After understanding the scientific perspective of medicine, I had the opportunity to explore the humanities and philosophical view of psychology, giving me a comprehensive, holistic insight.

The holistic perspective is important to me because it emphasizes the increasingly significant concept of the 'unity of body and soul,' something Western medicine is increasingly recognizing.

In my personal life, I strive to maintain a healthy balance between both physical and mental life. The balance of my mental life is kept fit by nurturing my relationships and my self-awareness sessions, while exercise serves my physical health. Sport is an integral part of my life. I have tried various sports: athletics, martial arts, hiking, gym workouts, but the sport closest to my heart became mountaineering. Mountaineering is often mentioned as a form of therapy, a journey of self-discovery, or even a metaphor for life. In Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi's book Flow, the flow experience is compared to standing atop a high mountain and looking into the distance. Mountaineering creates an opportunity to truly be with ourselves. We all struggle with our fears and anxieties throughout our lives. The mountain symbolizes these fears. By attempting to overcome them, we can realize that

within us lies much strength, perseverance, and determination, which, with proper guidance, can help us through our difficulties, pains, and fears.

Viktor Frankl, a well-known figure in psychology and the father of logotherapy, was also a mountaineer. For him, the mountain was a teacher of life. He saw mountaineering not as a competition with others but as a personal challenge. Viktor Frankl paralleled his views on mountaineering with a happy and successful life. According to him, achieving goals we set for ourselves brings happiness and gives meaning to our lives. Such a goal guides us, broadens our minds, and unleashes inner energies. This became the foundation of his creation, logotherapy:

Set a life goal for yourself, strive for it, and when you achieve it, you will become a new person.

As a therapist

Currently, I work full-time as a law enforcement employee. Throughout my job, I have encountered clients from a wide range of societal backgrounds, from the homeless to university professors. I deal with very different life situations, living conditions, traumas, and hardships, which gives me daily insight into the psychological state of a broad section of our society. A key part of my duties is individual therapy, where I approach each case with the same understanding and respect. Many clients come from families that are heavily traumatized and in difficult situations, so in individual therapies, I often encounter moving life stories. In addition to my employment, I also engage in private practice individual therapy, where I meet clients in online formats.

My work requires strong empathy and acceptance. I feel that I can make good use of this unconditional acceptance in the individual therapies I conduct with private clients as well.

It's important to highlight that I have gained significant experience in recognizing and handling crisis situations, as well as identifying various mental states and problems.

I place great emphasis on my professional development, training, and learning. Discover what therapeutic methodologies I use!

  1. I am currently undergoing the Complex integrative therapist method-specific training launched by the Hungarian Complex Psychotherapy Association, which is considered an accredited method in psychotherapist training. The main tool of the course is the Katathym Imaginative Psychotherapy (KIP), a dynamic, analytical oriented psychotherapeutic method.

Interested in this therapeutic method? Let me explain:

In applying KIP imagery, the unconscious (commonly referred to as the subconscious) experience content appears in pictorial, imaginative form. The imaginative images are filled with emotion, and they can symbolically represent the unconscious (subconscious) conflicts, attachment issues, and symbolic manifestations of early traumas. The essence of the therapeutic process unfolds within the therapeutic goal-created image experience, which the therapist accompanies and systematically shapes. Using imaginary content, the therapist can get close to the unconscious (subconscious) and thereby enable approaches to solving the client's present problems.

Besides, over the past year, I have completed the following trainings:

  1. The Operationalized Psychodynamic Diagnosis (OPD-2) course organized by Semmelweis University, Rehabilitation Clinic, Psychosomatic and Psychotherapeutic Rehabilitation Department is a psychotherapeutic diagnostic system through which I developed my clinical psychological competencies.

  2. The training titled “On the Schizophrenia Spectrum - From the Neurodevelopmental Model to Functionality” organized by the Semmelweis University Center for Professional and Continuing Education enabled me to gain deeper understanding of this serious mental disorder.

  3. During the course titled “Psychology of Grief and Supporting Bereaved Individuals” organized by the Napfogyatkozás Association, I acquired deeper understanding and support skills for the grieving process.

The aforementioned trainings are supplemented by attending various psychological conferences, listening to podcasts, and participating in various psychology-themed lectures. Furthermore, I am deeply studying the psychoanalytic trends, which have greatly shaped my psychologist identity. My therapeutic work is greatly assisted by the 150-hour group analytic self-knowledge group led by a training therapist of the Group Analytic and Training Society that I completed, in which I gained true self-awareness. I am currently attending my second group analytic self-knowledge group, where I have completed about 50 hours.

In my professional identity, self-awareness and self-reflection hold a prominent role. I believe that uncovering our inner self is essential for effective and authentic psychological work.

The therapeutic process does not necessarily have to be depressing, challenging, or stressful. The relaxed, cheerful, and accepting atmosphere created during sessions greatly eases this.

The first visit to the psychologist was a positive experience because it created a safe, accepting atmosphere where I could openly talk about my problems. I was properly informed about the process, confidentiality, and what to expect during our work together. This was reassuring and inspiring trust.
