As a private individual

For as long as I can remember, I have been an anxious and very sensitive type, and surprisingly, I have memories from a very young age that suggest I was a perfectionist from the start. A difficult combination. Until my teenage years, I tried to preserve my mental well-being by suppressing all my emerging negative emotions. No matter what traumatic, difficult, or stressful events happened to me or around me, I hardened myself, and I would not allow myself to be sad or scared, or admit that someone had hurt me. After a while, this was no longer sustainable, my body and soul grew tired, and all the emotions I hadn't allowed came to the surface as anxiety and panic. This was a big lesson for me, shaping me into the person and professional I am now. My current mindset and approach to life and work are thanks to these experiences. I now approach myself differently and everything around me. I've learned that it's important to allow ourselves to feel, and I now see that our bodies are for us, not against us. This approach also characterizes my work as a psychologist.

As a therapist

I would like to illustrate how I think about psychology, human mental, emotional, and physical health with three quotes and their underlying meanings.

“A lot, perhaps everything, can be endured if it has meaning” (Carl Gustav Jung)

In life, and in my work as a psychologist, I consider it fundamental and perhaps the first step that if we understand the potential reasons behind symptoms, behaviors, difficulties, everything becomes less scary and incomprehensible. I believe that understanding is one of the first steps toward change and balance. That is why I place great emphasis on collaborative thinking and psychoeducation in my work.

“Depression is like a woman dressed in black. If it shows up, don't chase it away. Invite it in, offer it a seat, treat it like a guest, and listen to what it has to say.” (Carl Gustav Jung)

I believe that our body and mind are closely intertwined, and their functioning, well-being, and health are inseparable from one another. Therefore, I strive to approach psychological difficulties and conditions with an integrative, holistic perspective.

Body and soul, body and mind are inseparable. Anxious symptoms, lack of motivation, shallow breathing, or insomnia, for example, are not against us; I believe they are signals to be heard. Psychological obstacles, symptoms can be indicative of deeper feelings, memories, experiences existing somewhere in our body and soul. By considering the physical and mental state together, we can move toward a more balanced, calmer, healthier existence.

“What you resist not only persists, but grows in size.” (Carl Gustav Jung)

This feeling might be familiar to anyone who has ever encountered anxious feelings, stress, or panic in their life. In joint work, I wish to help view psychological challenges like stress, anxiety, or even panic from a new perspective. Learning to accept, face, and integrate them within ourselves, collaborating with these feelings and thoughts rather than resisting them is an important step toward change.

That's why in my work, I use a diverse set of tools, gladly incorporating breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation, somatic exercises, and even aromatherapy tools.
