Modern society has brought dynamic changes to men's lives and roles.
In recent decades, men have faced many new challenges that they may not have experienced before. The changing of family roles, together with changes in gender roles; finding balance between career and private life alongside women’s efforts for equality; and maintaining mental health as traditional male roles change are all issues men need to respond to in modern society. The "Modern Man" interview aims to explore these changes and challenges, and to look at how men’s lives are changing in today’s world because of them - these are the questions that our psychologist Petra Nagy explored with her guests in the show "Ez így OK?!" ("Is this OK like this?!").
To respond properly to these changes, it is important to be open to new perspectives and solutions. Society must first understand the nature of these changes so it can adapt to them in the right way. The goal is to live in a world where everyone can live freely and without anxiety, even under the pressure of current cultural and social expectations.
The interview serves as a starting point for further thought and action in this important area. Let’s be thoughtful and patient with men too.
Frequently asked questions
Is it embarrassing for me to see a psychologist as a man?
Not at all—in fact, taking responsibility for your own mental health is one of the clearest signs of real inner strength and maturity.
How do I find my place in my relationship if my partner is more successful or earns more than I do?
Treat the relationship as an equal partnership, where your partner’s success does not take away from your value, but instead enriches your shared future.
Why should I open up emotionally if society rewards “tough” men?
It’s a conflicting expectation, and you need to find the middle ground where owning your feelings and keeping your composure can coexist.
How do I know what counts as masculine behavior today?
Today, it’s not about showing off strength, but about reliability, flexibility, and showing respect to others that define authentic masculinity for you.
